Wireless Sensor System for Rugby Impact Assessment

Remote Sensor System for Rugby Impact Assessment There is a lot of points of interest in playing sports, regardless of whether it is for unadulterated delight or expertly, anyway this can convey irreversible outcomes. Any injury is awful news and later on life the harm will in general return multiple times more terrible than when the injury originally happened. The most exceedingly awful of wounds are the ones that can cause mind harm, similar to blackouts, which are extremely regular in physical games, for example, rugby. Do experts figure the hazard each time they participate in the individual physical game, or do they simply consider the current second and continue? Do professionals know the outcomes of cerebrum harm, for example, dementia and memory misfortune, or do they imagine that disengaging a knew or a shoulder are the most exceedingly awful wounds that can occur as it would keep them from playing, would injuries be able to be forestalled or diminished or will the game consistently be risky, these are several inquiry that I have and trust achieve toward the finish of this task. An overview explained by me, permitted me to get various answers from 100 professionals of various physical games and it demonstrated that the vast majority dont know completely the dangers of playing physical games. Consistently, the rate and seriousness of wounds in sports have definitely expanded. Competitors will in general become greater, quicker and more grounded. In physical games, for example, rugby, boxing, American football, and so forth., competitors and fans hazard their wellbeing and prosperity presenting their bodies to the pressure and wounds present in sports. This proposition is progressively centered around head wounds, blackouts to be explicit. Blackouts or any mind harm will in general influence the competitors for the most part later on throughout everyday life, causing dementia, lasting cerebral pains, unsteadiness, trouble thinking or finishing assignments, fractiousness, tension, memory misfortune, the rundown goes on. Anybody that has ever played a game and had a physical issue, is currently more mindful than before of the dangers of playing whatever sport the individual was playing when the injury happened. Not that staying alert will forestall wounds, however in any event the specialist wont be amazed when something startling occurs or possibly the expert will be in a position where he can choose if is extremely worth the hazard. 1.1. Inspiration As a games fan I have consistently been keen on game, and I have consistently rehearsed sports. Summer of 2012 I began playing American football, I adored the surge of the game and the way that I was quick to the point that they couldnt get me. As months passed by, the entire group was preparing for the start of the period, everybody was increasing, quicker, and more grounded, and in this manner the effects during impacts and handles were getting progressively available on the body. It was business as usual to do an activity we used to call Bull battle, where we thump heads against one another so we can become acclimated to the effect. The first occasion when I did this I felt tipsy, however as an adolescent I didnt ponder it. First round of the period, I was preparing to score my first historically speaking touchdown, I got handled. I was oblivious on the floor for two minutes, they said. I was taken to the neighborhood specialist for a fast examination to ensure everything approved of me. The specialist said that I most certainly have had blackout. After I have done some examination into the point, I sort of understood the hazard I was uncovering myself as well, every time I conveyed an American football. At the point when we talk about American football, each physical game fills in as model and in this thesis we will concentrate more on rugby. My principle inspiration to do this task is the way that I accept that a significant piece of the populace that practices sports, explicitly physical games, dont know the outcomes on the since a long time ago run of doing as such. I trust that with the acknowledgment of this task I can make an effect towards sports aficionados such as myself, not in an approach to make them abandon the game, however at any rate they will know about their activities, and perhaps receive the utilization of more secure rigging when playing the game, as most players dont utilize the gear accessible like the rugby cap. Also, my inquiry are: Do competitors or fans truly realize what sort of conditions and dangers they are presenting themselves to? Also, can this wounds be forestalled or can the hazard introduction be decreased? 1.2.Aims and goals The paper will concentrate on the plan and testing of a neck compact framework fit and productive at checking the direct and precise head increasing speed, which has been depicted as an effective method of evaluating the power sway that players experience during training or a genuine game, as will be exhibited during this proposition. The principle points of this undertaking is to lead foundation look into on rugby wounds measurements, accelerometers and compact sensors, to locate the best structure for this task, actualize and test it utilizing an Arduino chip, to adjust the framework against automatic increasing speeds, to research the movability, convenience and appropriateness in rugby and other physical games, and to exhibit the gathered outcomes and representation. So as to finish up this task effectively a general knowledge will be obtained through foundation look into. Thusly the area 2.1 will speak to a top to bottom research about wounds in rugby, an examination between youths, seniors and expert players, segment 2.2 will disclose the ideas identified with accelerometers, various kinds of accelerometers, value ranges, points of interest and inconveniences of each, segment 3 will center onã‚â the significance of estimating the straight and precise head speeding up, segment 4 will clarify the two distinct sorts of interface, SPI and I2C, and detail the I2C interface similar to the interface that will be utilized during this venture, segment 5 will exhibit the structure and usage of the undertaking by showing photos of the principal model, and last task, the motivation behind why such plan was picked and all the means followed, at long last the segment 6 will show all the testing done in various situations, and individual consequences of the model and the last undertaking, all spoke to utilizing, diagrams and tables . Since the undertaking is additionally an examination on how proficient the task will be during a game or practice, a few thoughts and little tests will be completed at long last. A gear of this class, will be extremely valuable in any physical game, as it will give significant data to screen the power applied towards a head, and continue further investigations in the territory of blackouts and other mind harms that habitually happen in rugby players, or different competitors performing physical games. It can likewise build the consideration towards receiving more secure defensive apparatus. 2.1 Rugby wounds Head wounds are truly visit in physical games, for example, rugby, happening more in circumstances like the scrum, head impacts on the floor, and so forth. The most well-known head injury is called blackout, anyway that is the most minor sort of head injury (Lava). A blackout happens at 90 to 100 g-power, proportional to a head effect of 20mph (Gorgens, 1). 65% of head wounds happened in rugby are slash, 17% blackouts and 9% are breaks to the skull (Kaplan et al. 91). Because of the high possibility of head injury, the RFU (Rugby Football Union) has discovered approaches to forestall these lamentable circumstances. Some of them being laws, guidelines, rule dependent on look into proof, blackout mindfulness, first aider and social insurance and expert player testing courses. Rugby Union is on an apex of progress and ubiquity (Edgar, 1995), this draws in the media, the media pulls in the populace, in this manner the enthusiasm for the game, experts, inquires about and tests increment exponentially too, setting more accentuation on discovering approaches to ensure our competitors. An examination completed by UU at schools in Northern Ireland found a high pace of serious injury in rugby to rugby players in schools (Meredith, 2016). An aggregate of 825 understudies from 28 distinctive school groups took an interest in the investigation during 2014/2015, which brought about 426 wounds, 204 of them bringing about an inadequacy of rehearsing the game for a normal of about a month. One of every four rugby players will endure a physical issue, 55% of the wounds happen during a tackle, 78% of blackouts explicitly happen during a tackle, 13% are knee wounds, 7% hand wounds, 10% blackouts, 11% lower leg wounds, 10% shoulder tendon wounds and 5% shoulder separation. In the wake of ascertaining it uncovers that it happens three blackouts for each group. Youthful competitors are increasingly defenseless against blackout and might be influenced by progressively confused recuperation times and higher danger of unfavorable results. (Meredith, 2016). On 29 Of January of 2011 a definitely mishap happened to a youthful player, 14 years of age named Ben Robinson while playing rugby association for his school group. During the game he had three effects on the head, on each effect he was removed the field and set back, on the fourth effect he crumbled and kicked the bucket later on in the medical clinic (Bull, 2013). As cases like the demise of Ben Robinson happen on occasion it will consequently expand the pressing increment for mindfulness, looks into and answers for this issue. Upholding the laws of the game is unquestionably one, that is things like taking a gander at the stature of the tackle, guaranteeing that its deciphered appropriately, and showing great handling procedure, (Bleakley, 2015). A few guidelines that could be applied would be in the event of a mind injury like blackout the player shouldnt play for in any event 30 days, as applied in boxing, the player shouldnt need to play under impact of pharmaceuticals to dont feel the harm brought about by the injury endured, among different principles. Olmec Religion - the First Mesoamerican Civilization

The Olmec civilization (1200-400 B.C.) was the first major Mesoamerican culture and laid the foundation for several later civilizations. Many aspects of Olmec culture remain a mystery, which is not surprising considering how long ago their society went into decline. Nevertheless, archaeologists have been able to make surprising progress in learning about the religion of the ancient Olmec people. The Olmec Culture The Olmec culture lasted roughly from 1200 B.C. to 400 B.C. and flourished along Mexicos Gulf coast. The Olmec built major cities at San Lorenzo and La Venta, in the present day states of Veracruz and Tabasco respectively. The Olmec were farmers, warriors and traders, and the few clues they left behind indicate a rich culture. Their civilization collapsed by 400 A. D. - archaeologists are unsure as to why - but several later cultures, including the Aztec and the Maya, were profoundly influenced by the Olmec. The Continuity Hypothesis Archaeologists have struggled to put together the few clues that remain today from the Olmec culture which vanished well over 2,000 years ago. Facts about the ancient Olmec are hard to come by. Modern researchers must use three sources for information on the religion of ancient Mesoamerican cultures: Analysis of relics including sculpture, buildings and ancient texts when availableEarly Spanish reports of religious and cultural practicesEthnographic studies of modern-day traditional religious practices in certain communities Experts who have studied the Aztecs, Maya and other ancient Mesoamerican religions have come to an interesting conclusion: these religions share certain characteristics, indicating a much older, foundational system of belief. Peter Joralemon proposed the Continuity Hypothesis to fill in the gaps left by incomplete records and studies. According to Joralemon there is a basic religious system common to all Mesoamerican peoples. This system took shape long before it was given monumental expression in Olmec art and survived long after the Spanish conquered the New Worlds major political and religious centers. (Joralemon quoted in Diehl, 98). In other words, other cultures can fill in the blanks in regards to Olmec society. One example is the Popol Vuh. Although it is normally associated with the Maya, there are nevertheless many instances of Olmec art and sculpture that seemingly show images or scenes from the Popol Vuh. One instance is the nearly identical statues of the Hero Twins at t he Azuzul archaeological site. The Five Aspects of Olmec Religion Archaeologist Richard Diehl has identified five elements associated with Olmec Religion. These include: A cosmos which identifies the socio-cultural context within which Gods and man interactedDivine beings and gods who controlled the universe and interacted with menA shaman or priest class who acted as intermediaries between the common Olmec people and their gods and spiritsRituals enacted by shamans and/or rulers that reinforced the concepts of the cosmosSacred sites, both natural and man-made Olmec Cosmology Like many early Mesoamerican cultures, the Olmec believed in three tiers of existence: the physical realm they inhabited, an underworld and a sky realm, home of most of the gods. Their world was bound together by the four cardinal points and natural boundaries such as rivers, the ocean and mountains. The most important aspect of Olmec life was agriculture, so it is no surprise that the Olmec agricultural/fertility cult, gods and rituals were extremely important. The rulers and kings of the Olmec had an important role to play as intermediaries between the realms, although it is unknown exactly what relationship to their gods they claimed. Olmec Deities The Olmec had several deities whose images repeatedly appear in surviving sculptures, stonecarvings and other artistic forms. Their names have been lost to time, but archaeologists identify them by their characteristics. No fewer than eight regularly-appearing Olmec deities have been identified. These are the designations given to them by Joralemon: The Olmec DragonThe Bird MonsterThe Fish MonsterThe Banded-eye GodThe Maize GodThe Water GodThe Were-jaguarThe Feathered Serpent Most of these gods would later figure prominently in other cultures, such as the Maya. Currently, there is insufficient information about the roles these gods played in Olmec society or specifically how each was worshiped. Olmec Sacred Places The Olmecs considered certain man-made and natural places sacred. Man-made places included temples, plazas and ball courts and natural places included springs, caves, mountaintops and rivers. No building easily identifiable as an Olmec temple has been discovered; nevertheless, there are many raised platforms which probably served as bases upon which temples were built of some perishable material such as wood. Complex A at La Venta archaeological site is commonly accepted as a religious complex. Although the only ballcourt identified at an Olmec site comes from the post-Olmec era at San Lorenzo, there is nevertheless much evidence that the Olmecs played the game, including carved likenesses of players and preserved rubber balls found at the El Manatà site. The Olmec venerated natural sites as well. El Manatà is a bog where offerings were left by the Olmecs, probably those who lived at San Lorenzo. Offerings included wooden carvings, rubber balls, figurines, knives, axes and more. Although caves are rare in the Olmec region, some of their carvings indicate a reverence for them: in some stonecarvings the cave is the mouth of the Olmec Dragon. Caves in Guerrero state have paintings inside which are associated with the Olmec. Like many ancient cultures, the Olmecs venerated mountains: an Olmec sculpture was found close to the summit of the San Martà n Pajapan Volcano, and many archaeologists believe that man-made hills at sites such as La Venta are meant to represent sacred mountains for rituals. Olmec Shamans There is strong evidence that the Olmec had a shaman class in their society. Later Mesoamerican cultures which derived from the Olmec had full-time priests who acted as intermediaries between the common people and the divine. There are sculptures of shamans apparently transforming from humans into were-jaguars. Bones of toads with hallucinogenic properties have been found at Olmec sites: the mind-altering drugs were presumably used by shamans. The rulers of Olmec cities probably served as shamans as well: rulers were likely considered to have a special relationship with the gods and many of their ceremonial functions were religious. Sharp objects, such as stingray spines, have been found at Olmec sites and were most likely used in sacrificial bloodletting rituals. Olmec Religious Rituals and Ceremonies Of Diehls five foundations of Olmec religion, the rituals are the least known to modern researchers. The presence of ceremonial objects, such as stingray spines for bloodletting, indicate that there were, indeed, important rituals, but any details of said ceremonies have been lost to time. Human bones - particularly of infants - have been found at some sites, suggesting human sacrifice, which was later important among the Maya, Aztec and other cultures. The presence of rubber balls indicates that the Olmec played this game. Later cultures would assign a religious and ceremonial context to the game, and it is reasonable to suspect that the Olmec did as well. Sources: Coe, Michael D and Rex Koontz. There are some criteria that are required to achieve similitude; 1 . Geometric similarity – The model is the same shape as the application (they are usually scaled). We will write a custom essay sample on Relationship between a model and Similitude or any similar topic only for you Order Now 2. Kinematic similarity – Fluid flow of both the model and real application must undergo similar time rates of change motions. (Fluid streamlines are similar). 3. Dynamic similarity – Ratios of all forces acting on orresponding fluid particles and boundary surfaces in the two systems are constant. The application is analyzed in order to satisfy the conditions; 1 . All parameters required to describe the system are Identified using principles from continuum mechanics. 2. Dimensional analysis is used to express the system with as few Independent variables and as many dimensionless parameters as possible. 3. The values of the dimensionless parameters are held to be the same for both the scale model and application. This can be done because they are dimensionless and will ensure dynamic similitude between the model and the application. The resulting equations are used to derive scaling laws which dictate model testing conditions. However, it is often impossible to achieve strict similitude during a model test. The greater the departure from the application’s operating conditions, the more difficult achieving similitude is. Similitude is a term used widely in fracture mechanics relating to the strain life approach. Under given loading onditions the fatigue damage in an unnotched specimen is comparable to that of a notched specimen. Similitude suggests that the component fatigue life of the two objects will also be similar. One example that we can give here Is the. Kendrick Lamar free essay sample

He does not promote the partying, drugs, and sex that most rappers glorify in their music. Lamar has little of Drakes pop and gloss, zero chart-friendly Euro-beats and no obvious single, while the only mentions of cars and cash are to confirm that he has neither making him a great model to take advice from through music. He is not afraid to talk about obvious issues that are not brought to peoples attention. Hip-hop is a little more grown up now, Lamar has said in various conversations. Normally you would t have hardcore rappers attempting to talk about anything like a gay marriage cause they would feel it was wrong for their mage. When you get people in hip-hop unafraid to discuss these topics, it is an evolution. Lamar puts this down to the fact hes put his vulnerabilities on show. At the end of the day his success is because people perceived him as a human being rather than an action figure that cant be touched. His father had been part of Chicago infamous Gangster Disciples, and his attempts to leave that life were thwarted when he and Lamas mother landed in the crack-flooded, gang-polluted Compton of the 1 sass. Though both parents worked regular jobs, some of their extended family became embroiled in the internecine conflict between the Crisp and Bloods.Lamas uncle was shot and killed, and various cousins went to prison. Lamas music intrigues these things of his life but it is not the negative things he states in his work it is the knowledge he knows and his album artwork is a photo of a young Lamar with his dad, whos holding a rather large shotgun. In conclusion to why Kindlier Lamar is the best rapper of this time is a mutual relation of ethnic backgrounds because from the time him and his peers were born in the ass, when crack was everywhere, his friends had no figure to guide them. Father in jail, mother strung out.He knew he was blessed with a gift of having both parents. That gave him a little more insight on doing the right thing. His parents being there gave me a whole lot of confidence. His sense for composition and his lyrical ability, so keenly felt from a young age that he had to put it to use. Storytelling was something he found a knack for. Now his words are heard throughout the world and he still has time to develop more statements and lyrics to enlighten the youth and world on what is happening and how we can come together and create a better world and not plan a terrible demise for ourselves.

QVC SUCCESS, STRATEGY AND CHALLENGES essayEssay Writing Service

QVC SUCCESS, STRATEGY AND CHALLENGES essayEssay Writing Service QVC: SUCCESS, STRATEGY AND CHALLENGES essay QVC: SUCCESS, STRATEGY AND CHALLENGES essayDespite the fact that QVC emerged in the televised shopping industry much later than its competitors, it managed to quickly surpass them in many ways. Today, it occupies a dominant place in the television-retail sphere. The success of the company can be explained by strong commitment of its workers to quality and convenience of the products offered to the customers. The company also has a competitive advantage in the television-retail market. There are a number of reasons of why QVC became a leader in the television-retail industry during a short period of time. Among the reasons for the company’s success are close attention to the competitor’s weaknesses and strengths, employment of qualified TV producers with much experience in the required field and maintenance of high quality of the television-retail products. The three major values of the company are quality, convenience and value (Williamson, 1999). These principles form the basis of the company’s route to success. Each product of QVC undergoes strict quality control tests before they reach the TV screens. Finally, one more key to success of QVC is a guarantee of absolute money back assuring first-time and repeat customers in the trustworthiness of the company (Gudelunas, 2002).  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The basis of the QVC’s strategy is customer orientation. Thus, back in the 1990s, the company created its own internet division to prove its loyalty to convenience. Over the years, the website of the company has undergone many changes and became more customer-friendly and convenient to use. The customers can put online orders 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. Furthermore, QVC aims at staying far ahead of its competitors by diversifying the range of products it offers to the customers (Williamson, 1999). The strategy of the company includes constantly improving the variety of goods that now range from clothing and accessories to electronic devices and food. The company also aims at learning the needs of its target audience to optimize the sales process. Moreover, QVC uses professional advertising campaigns to make its brand different from its competitors. Finally, the strategy of QVC is the controlled and well-though expansion of the company. Today, its products can be purchased worldwide from Great Britain and Germany to Japan (Gudelunas, 2002).  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Ever since the company has occupied a leading position in the television-retail industry, its major challenge is to be in advantage over its competitors and be focused on the expansion and growth in the future. So as to make sure that QVC maximizes its profits, the management of the company has to deal with a challenge of inventing new goods that would ensure high profits gained by the company (Porter, 1999). In order to make the business even more profitable, the customers’ desires should be met to full extent and QVC strives at achieving this goal. However, this can be a difficult process requiring resources and much time. The company strives at evolving so as to discover new products that would meet the needs of the mass market and still be of the highest quality which is the top priority of the company. QVC also faces a challenge of attracting the attention of new customers and expanding its client base so as to prevent the decline (Gudelunas, 2002). The company has successfully ventured into the new industrial markets in Great Britain, Germany and Japan, but the company’s expansion should not stop at this point. Today, QVC makes efforts to venture into other markets worldwide to further expand its customer base. Furthermore, another challenge for QVC is the planning related to future business environment. That is why the management of the company constantly strives for protecting the well-being of the brand evaluating the business environment (Porter, 1999). It shou ld be admitted that as long as the QVC Company does not lose its core mission of quality, convenience and value, it will most likely remain on the top of popularity in current and future television-retail industry.

Tips for Creating and Scoring Essay Tests

Tips for Creating and Scoring Essay Tests Essay tests are useful for teachers when they want students to select, organize, analyze, synthesize, and/or evaluate information. In other words, they rely on the upper levels of Blooms Taxonomy. There are two types of essay questions: restricted and extended response. Restricted Response - These essay questions limit what the student will discuss in the essay based on the wording of the question. For example, State the main differences between John Adams and Thomas Jeffersons beliefs about federalism, is a restricted response. What the student is to write about has been expressed to them within the question.Extended Response - These allow students to select what they wish to include in order to answer the question. For example, In Of Mice and Men, was Georges killing of Lennie justified? Explain your answer. The student is given the overall topic, but they are free to use their own judgment and integrate outside information to help support their opinion. Student Skills Required for Essay Tests Before expecting students to perform well on either type of essay question, we must make sure that they have the required skills to excel. Following are four skills that students should have learned and practiced before taking essay exams: The ability to select appropriate material from the information learned in order to best answer the question. The ability to organize that material in an effective manner. The ability to show how ideas relate and interact in a specific context. The ability to write effectively in both sentences and paragraphs. Constructing an Effective Essay Question Following are a few tips to help in the construction of effective essay questions: Begin with the lesson objectives in mind. Make sure to know what you wish the student to show by answering the essay question.Decide if your goal requires a restricted or extended response. In general, if you wish to see if the student can synthesize and organize the information that they learned, then restricted response is the way to go. However, if you wish them to judge or evaluate something using the information taught during class, then you will want to use the extended response. If you are including more than one essay, be cognizant of time constraints. You do not want to punish students because they ran out of time on the test.Write the question in a novel or interesting manner to help motivate the student.State the number of points that the essay is worth. You can also provide them with a time guideline to help them as they work through the exam.If your essay item is part of a larger objective test, make sure that it is the last item on the exam. Scoring the Essay Item One of the downfalls of essay tests is that they lack in reliability. Even when teachers grade essays with a well-constructed rubric, subjective decisions are made. Therefore, it is important to try and be as reliable as possible when scoring your essay items. Here are a few tips to help improve reliability in grading: Determine whether you will use a holistic or analytic scoring system before you write your rubric. With the holistic grading system, you evaluate the answer as a whole, rating papers against each other. With the analytic system, you list specific pieces of information and award points for their inclusion.Prepare the essay rubric in advance. Determine what you are looking for and how many points you will be assigning for each aspect of the question.Avoid looking at names. Some teachers have students put numbers on their essays to try and help with this.Score one item at a time. This helps ensure that you use the same thinking and standards for all students.Avoid interruptions when scoring a specific question. Again, consistency will be increased if you grade the same item on all the papers in one sitting. If an important decision like an award or scholarship is based on the score for the essay, obtain two or more independent readers.Beware of negative influences that can affect essay s coring. These include handwriting and writing style bias, the length of the response, and the inclusion of irrelevant material. Review papers that are on the borderline a second time before assigning a final grade.

How to Do Scientific Research Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

How to Do Scientific Research - Term Paper Example Scientific research allows us to make sense of how things work and why some things look or act the way they do. Scientific research has allowed our advancement as human species in this world. It enabled our superiority and survival among other organisms that inhabit the planet. Through scientific methods of inquiries, observations, experimentations, data analyses and continuous approaches of data verifications, several answers to essential survival needs have been known and developed further for mass benefits. This includes scientific breakthroughs in medicine, human anatomy, diseases, ecology, astronomy, society and various phenomenon relating to humanity and our survival in our environment. It is to be noted that scientific research does not provide absolute answers to questions (Ori 2012). It instead provides answers based on the current knowledge acquired and recent evidence from what is present. That is why asking the right questions and formulating a sensible hypothesis from cu rrent sources of information, are critical to advance our existing knowledge. The solutions that we have right now, the technologies we are enjoying and the existence of rich data sources are the product of all the efforts of scientific research in the past. There are more cures to sicknesses right now because researchers from the past have already discovered these solutions. The sophisticated technologies we are using in computers and network systems are the result of the development of information technologies and facets of circuitries, with applications of social sciences and human response mechanisms. It generally means that the questions that have been asked before have been answered in this generation. Thus, whatever questions and challenges we have in our present time, these will be important on how the future will be shaped. The accumulation of knowledge and its by-products continuously happen, and more discoveries are being known. These are the driving mechanisms on the adv ancements that are yet to occur in the time to come. Conducting scientific research in the light of scientific methods is critical to the validity of results. The validity of conclusions is important to be proven. Ideas can be accepted or rejected based on adherence to scientific standards and measures. This information process or scientific system helps provide consistency on how data are acquired and collected. If proven valid and accepted, the discovery can be adapted as a scientific paradigm that could be used as a sound reference of science. In here, it could be supporting other already existing paradigms that then bring to the unification of ideas, and therefore establish our understanding of that scientific matter. If this is achieved, the system could be used in the application of product development or systems design. This is when solutions are created or developed, and innovations that improve what we currently have are appreciated.

Social Security and Work In UK employment law there is an important distinction between 'employees' and 'workers'. Most agency workers are classed as workers and this serves to exclude them from entitlement to important employment rights such as unfair dismissal and redundancy protection, which are only available to employees. A company's reward philosophy should be simple - they should pay for performance and the better the performance the more they should pay. Most companies have adopted a 'market based pay' approach to determining salaries which means they pay according to the value of the job in the market. Companies should be dedicated to the principles of employment and pay equity. They should be committed to taking steps to facilitate the integration and promote the full participation of previously under-represented designated groups such as agency workers in the labour market and encourage the utilization of the talents of all employees in order to realize the business objectives of the companies Employers should also be

Internet Technology: The End Of Printed Newspaper

Internet Technology: The End Of Printed Newspaper Competition between print and online News and Information Media. According to research the growing usage of internet technology has intensified competitions and now publishers are facing more threats from online marketing leading to decline in readership of printed newspaper. Printed newspaper is finding it hard to attract young readers to replace the old ones amounting to drop in revenue on intermedia advertising market.(Richard van der wurff,2005.Gazette Vol No .1, pg 107) The internet exacerbates these threats by enabling the entry of new competitors With new online products on the internet news market. Publishers are now faced with increasing competition from foreign newspapers and other media organisation; some of these competitions offers online news for free and also use internet technology to create electronic markets and job sites that compete with the printed newspaper in the classified and job advertising markets. Printed newspaper therefore facing threats from their core business and the sales of news and sales of access to audience. .(Richard van der wurff,2005.Gazette Vol No .1., pg 107) At the same time internet technology empowers newspaper publisher to innovate their product and to target new audience by using the internet as a marketing channel to reach young potential customers, who do not read the printed newspaper, publisher can also use the internet to serve foreign customers with online electronic editions of the news that before was expensive ,they can also use the internet to strengthen relationship with existing readers by offering new services like breaking news and classified ad sites collecting readers information establishing a two way communication with readers. According to van der wurff in his contribution in the Gazette he suggested that publishers Make better use of these opportunities when they face stronger competition from online competitors. Provided they have the financial means to do so. At the beginning of the 21st century few print media has delved into online market creating their own brand like the economy and financial magazine the agriculture magazine can access online but still keep the valuable part to prints subscribers. Print newspaper publishers are now facing problems from ISPs and other information providers.(Richard van der wurff,2005.Gazette Vol No. 1, pg 108) The mediatisation of the net and internetization of Traditional Media Newspaper publishers are now required to change their business model as gate keepers of information and embrace the media logic of interractiveness, personalization, immediacy and multimedia. Their new role would be to facilitate communications between readers and between readers and journalists. Readers rather than journalists would decide what news readers would receive, and readers would become important originators of content, too. Online editions would make this content available in real-time, and text would be sexed up with moving images and sound.(Richard van der wurff,2005.Gazette Vol No. 1, pg 108) Other contribution by oà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢sullivan observes that traditional media including newspaper publisher, dominate the online news environment in his case in Ireland. Traditional media have the largest supply of online news, and in addition syndicate their content to other online providers. He also shows that websites of newspaper publishers in Ireland tend to look like transmission sites. They offer little interactivity and multimedia, and mainly provide the same news as their printed counterparts. This does not imply that editors do not see that internet, in principle, offers them opportunities to improve the print format, and to provide greater depth and diversity. Yet, online editors operate in the same political-economic environment and face at least the same problems and time constraint as their printed counterparts. It is therefore as difficult for them as for editors of printed newspapers to give minority views an equal voice. The standard in online journalism is threa tened by publishers who attempt to reduce costs by employing inexperienced journalist on low pay, and by tight deadlines. According to editors, maintain high journalistic skills is imperative-but costs money, as does offering interactivity and communication between journalists and readers.oà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢sullivan concludes that online news, when distributed for free, cannot escape the norms of broadcasting media. In Search for Newspaper Role Online The combined developments of the mediatisation of the internet and the internetization of traditional media do not resolve the competitive challenge that news publishers face. Increasing competition between old and new news media forces newspaper publishers to find an appropriate position or niche for online newspapers in the newspaper market, next to other news media and in particular next to printed newspapers. The publisher needs to differentiate their online news from the printed newspaper to prevent market cannibalization. Differentiation can be realized by emphasizing internet-specific features (e.g. interactivity), by offering different content (e.g. local community information), or both. Differentiaition, however, brings additional cost for publishers. Has argued by oà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢sullivan. Salaverria suggested whether and how newspapers have informative and critical role to play in emergency situations. He analysis how Spanish international online newspapers reported in real-time on events of the 11 September 2001.he argued that the internet has become a global information medium on its own. A multitude of people used the net directly after the event to be informed. This create technical problems(congestions, long download times), which suggests that the internet has not yet reached maturity as a technological medium. Publisher addressed the issue by trimming down the home page size. Another problem was to that the pressure to keep up with the events led online newspapers to make mistakes. More troublesome is that newspapers did not formally rectify their mistakes, but simply removed the wrong statement from the web. The debate still continues over where news rooms need to take their content. Online content has been offered free in most cases to readers for years. Will online readers be willing to pay for content in the future? For decades, there was never any doubt that printing had a future-the printing industry became the synonym for a sector with uninterrupted growth. Paper consumption and press output was the yardstick of wealth, civilization and economic power. Today, the increasing trend towards digitization and computerization of the media, coupled with the explosion of the Internet, has prompted many players in the printing industry to wonder whether print still has a future. The answer is a resounding yes. However, great changes are afoot

Controversies of Racism Essay

The subject of racism is a continual controversial issue within everyday society. It’s inevitable. Everywhere you go, you’ll come across some sort of discrimination or racism. It’s like we’re programmed to judge instantly, it’s in our human nature. Religion, age and racial discrimination literally surrounds us and we can’t do much to stop it until we change ourselves, and let’s face it that’s probably not going to happen. So the main questions I normally ask myself are: Why are we prejudiced? Is being different that bad? And are we really that different? Hitler definitely seemed to think that we were. So did America back in the 1600’s where the first of racism and black slavery began and half the world’s population in the 21st Century think so too. It was said for many years that Hitler was obsessed with racial â€Å"purity† and spread his beliefs in speeches and writings pronouncing that his race needs to remain pure in order to rule the world. What was his definition of pure? To have blue eyes, fair skin and blonde hair. Who is to say that makes you the perfect being? Absolutely no one. When Hitler and the Nazis came to power, these beliefs became the government motto and were spread publicly in posters, on the radio, in movies, in classrooms and in newspapers. After Hitler took power, Nazi teachers in school classrooms began to apply the principles of racial science. The teachers measured skull size and nose length and recorded the colour of the student’s hair and eyes to determine whether students belonged to the â€Å"true race†. This constant negative message that was being sent out influenced the younger students to continue with racism. The Nazis also began to put their ideology into practice with the support of German scientists who believed that the human race could be improved by limiting the reproduction of people considered â€Å"inferior† such as Jews, people with disabilities, gypsies, black people, and people with skin diseases, Jehovah’s Witnesses and any other flaws humans are born with. Hitler viewed the Jews not as a religious group, but as a poisonous, disgusting â€Å"race†, which â€Å"lived off† other races and weakened them. And so began the Holocaust. Hitler threw innocent Jewish people into concentration camps letting them starve to death, gassing them, burning them alive and countless other torturous acts because they weren’t what he saw to be the ‘’perfect being’’. That may have been around sixty years ago but why does genocide still happen? After the Jewish Genocide, the cold war genocide, Rwanda genocide and just recently the genocide in Darfur occurred. Slavery is a black eye on the soul of America’s history. There has never been an excuse for one human to own another. We humans as a species should always have been treated equally. Why should people own other people? Are human beings animals? How can you hate someone so much by the colour of their skin? There simply is no answer. Slavery began around the 1600’s when the first black man was used as a servant. The slavery continued on, all the way through to the 1900’s where the servants were used to clean, cook food, babysit and do the dirty work around the house while a racist extremist group called the Ku Klux Klan that believed in Hitler’s message abused them with hate crimes and acts of domestic terrorism. Black people were treated like they were the scum of the earth; they were abused, spit on, beaten and in worst case scenario, murdered. They weren’t allowed to go to the same stores, schools, diners, and churches as the white people in America which was a huge disadvantage to the African-American race. When the racial segregation happened, which was a big milestone in history, the African–Americans were allowed to have the same facilities as everyone else, much to Americas disdain. Their freedom was limited; the African-Americans resorted to sitting at the back of the bus, or were only allowed to go to certain public areas. So why it is that racism still exists? What will it take for mankind to realize that despite the colour of a person’s skin, we are all amazing, complex people, who have wonderful characteristics that should be admired and loved? But people also need to realize that some people that were born black didn’t CHOSE to be black. I mean, I’m a black girl but that doesn’t make me hate the whites and love the blacks. Both races are the same to me. I guess equality is such a new concept within everyday American society that many raw emotions still cloud their judgment. Now in the 21st Century, racism still exists and in varying forms. Not only is there racial discrimination, religion is discriminated against also. When you see a Muslim man walking down the street or a woman wearing a burka, do you cower in fear? There is this new phobia called Islamophobia where there is hatred, prejudice or fear of a Muslim person and this term came to use fter the September 11 terrorist attack. But why be scared of only Muslim’s? Everyone is capable of causing great harm to society and just recently the Norway attack occurred and this attack wasn’t done by a Muslim. It was by a Norwegian citizen that no one suspected. This man, Breivik planned the attack to annihilate multiculturalism in Norway and to preserve a Christian Europe. His political views were to conserve his culture and promote Islamoph obia, he also urged Europeans after this attack to restore the â€Å"historic crusades† against Islam as in the Middle Ages. You could say that Islamophobia is the new form of black racism as it is a practice of discriminating against Muslims by excluding them from the economic, social and public life of everyday society. The new law that was passed down in France of not being able to wear the burka is an example. French police arrested two veiled women just hours after the country’s new ban on wearing the burka in public came into force. This law is the first of its kind to be enforced in Europe, and the French police said they will be extremely cautious as there are fears of Muslim women provoking violence while the burka. The law should not push minorities around. I believe that people should be allowed to wear what they want, free of coercion. The burka is a Muslim practice and I do not see the big deal, it is not a security risk. It is believed that Islam has no values in the Western society and is an inferior and violent religious belief. On the contrary, the violent belief is this new phobia. What do you think? Far too many of us speak of equality and hope, yet secretly have hate. Most people will tell you, that they are not racist individuals. Many of these people though, are either fooling themselves, or just don’t want to make a bad reputation for themselves. Everyone is based on little more than stereotypes and stories of that what happened years ago with Hitler and the black slavery. So we need to put aside all the things that happened generations ago. It happened out of ignorance and right now what we need to be doing is unite as one race, stop the negative attitudes and beliefs that permeate around us and try to make the future brighter. Some people believe that racism is in our human nature. Do you think so?

Freire wrote the â€Å" The Banking Concept of Education† which pointed out that educators are above students, which are viewed as completely stupid and uneducated.
